Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid Car Review

Pick up trucks have been one of the highest selling vehicles in the world for as long as most care to remember. The truck was designed as a work vehicles for companies and such to use but the general public started to demand a model for them and the pick up truck craze was born. Since that time more pick up trucks have been sold in this country then any other kind of gas powered vehicle and Chevrolet has been on the forefront for many years when it comes to this craze. It is no secret that Chevrolet is one of the largest auto makers in the world. They are second only to Ford in some respects while they beat Ford out in others. Chevrolets success was so quick that Henry Ford himself sought to buy the company in the early days but could not raise the funds to make the purchase. Ever since Chevrolet has been force in the auto making world and setting trends is what they do best.

When the price of gas reached levels that most people could barely afford the many auto makers went scrambling in an attempt to locate a way to bring back the sales. This was the introduction of hybrids and Chevrolet was not behind in such matters. The Chevrolet Silverado was the very first full size pick up truck to be released as a hybrid vehicle and since that time it has been the second best selling truck of all time. This is proof that people still want the large trucks but they are also very concerned about being able to afford such trucks with the high price of gas and insurance. Chevrolet made a wise decision to release this hybrid version. It would be the very first hybrid to be released by the giant auto maker and it is still the most popular brand of truck that they sell in both hybrid and all gas solutions.

The problem with the Chevrolet Silverado is the fact that it is only a mild hybrid. This means that the electric assist motor powers most of the accessories and such but does not do a whole lot for the fuel efficiency of the truck. There is some savings in that area, but most of it comes from the fact that the engine does not have to work so hard to power the truck as it would with all of the accessories running off of the engine and the battery.
